Preschool Program

The Provincial School of the Centre Jules-Léger provides preschool services to the parents of deaf or hard-of-hearing students. These services, provided to Francophone children across the province by our consultants consist in at-home visits. The intervention consists mainly in providing support to the parents in choosing a mode of communication for their deaf or hard-of-hearing child, a choice that might consist in a frequency modulation system (MF system) or a hearing aid. The parents could also choose the sign language mode (LSQ) or the oral language through auditory-verbal therapy. Information on the general development of the child is also included in the intervention.
The deafblindness consultants also provide services to the families of Francophone preschool deafblind children at home and in the childcare centre in the fields of communication, sensory programming and child development.

The blindness consultants also provide services to the families of Francophone preschool children who are blind or have low vision, at home and in the childcare centre in the fields of communication, sensory programming and child development.
